Stick Girl

Hip hey! I'm walking with crutches again. This must be the fourth time within the past year. So today, inspired by my current condition, I'd like to share this poem with you.

Stick Boy and Match Girl in Love

Stick Boy liked Match Girl,
he liked her a lot.
He liked her cute figure,
he thought she was hot.

But could a flame ever burn
for a match and a stick?
It did quite literally;
he burned up pretty quick.

Poem and illustration by Tim Burton

My leg never got better after I hurt it on May Day, so finally I went to see a doctor. And just like before, there was nothing wrong with my leg. It´s just too painfull to walk, so I got them crutches. This friday we´re going on a field trip to Helsinki to visit Marimekko and other placs and events, including Aurelia-fashion show by our own Kuopio Academy of Design. Now I'm hoping for a miracle cure, or otherwise my classmates have to push me in a wheelchair all around Helsinki.

Painfully quiet in here..

A Couple of days ago I went to the dentist and had my one and only wisdom tooth pulled out. The operation itself didn't hurt too much, but  I'm starting to think that nothing before has ached as much  as my face has been aching since. For the past couple of days I´ve only been able to eat ice cream and painkillers and watch Boardwalk Empire. Thats why I haven't been writing anything. Now there´s going to be a massive bruise on my jaw. Now I either have to learn how to make up or just stare the people in the eye and tell them they should see the other heroine. I think I'll choose the last one ;)

The elephant in the room

Well, this post isn't exactly about those positive sparks of life, but I'm gonna share it with you anyway. Maybe then we can laugh on this together..

I have a teacher who clearly thinks that I'm pregnant. She hasn't said or asked anything obvious, but I know she thinks I am. How do I tell her, and to everyone else I meet that I'm not, without embarrassing neither of us? Within the last year I've been through so many absurd and akward situations where people have happily greeted me with "Oh! You're with a child! How wonderful!!" and then after I corrected them gotten so embarrassed  that it's painfull to watch. Since this keeps happening to me, I´d like to find a smooth solution to it. Should I just blurt it out straight away when introducing myself? Like in an AA-meeting? "Hi! My name is Joe and I'm not pregnant."

If you have any good one-liners on this, please do share =)

Findings

Today was a good day. I had a day of from school so I paid my weekly visit at KELA (the social insurance institution of Finland). There had been a mix-up with some of my benefits and I had to go and clarify it. Luckily it didn't take long and the clerk was very friendly. After that was done, I decided to go and look for some sunglasses. I knew what I was lookin for and quite quickly I found them: silvery Ray-Bans! Obviously not the real ones, but anyways. First I thought they were too big and bold for me, but now I've fallen in love with them. I also bought a pair of big round-ones for the up-coming hippie-summer =)

Later in the afternoon I went to the flea market near my home. And what did I find! A pair of tight black jeans, a brand new red and black-checked flanel shirt and a bomber jacket with fleece lining, all together for 3,50 euros! I'm not sure about the jacket, but the shirt and jeans actually looked quite good on me. I'm very happy with them, it's so damn difficult to find shirts that fit and look good on this unnatural body of mine. Who'd have thought that the 90's fashion would come to the rescue of me and my bump?? Not me.

I was so happy with my findings and the day in general that I went and bought some cider and snacks. Now I´m just gonna sit back and relax, watch some series and maybe knit something.

 Happy weekend to y'all!
